Taizhou Shenxianju Pedestrian Suspension Bridge
Project Overview: Taizhou Shenxianju Pedestrian Suspension Bridge—South Tian Second Bridge—is located approximately 180 meters east of the Old South Tian Bridge. Upon completion, it echoes the older bridge from a distance. The South Tian Second Bridge employs a novel structural system: an extradosed suspension bridge that, while ensuring adequate sag in the main cables, also elevates the deck to a more horizontal plane, thereby enhancing pedestrian comfort—a pioneering approach in China. The bridge has a span arrangement of (1–134) meters and a width of 3 meters, with two main load‑carrying cables. These cables are positioned beneath the lower chords of the steel truss girders and consist of 120 epoxy‑coated steel strands, each with a diameter of 15.24 mm. To achieve the required cable sag, the steel truss is designed as a variable‑height structure, with a maximum mid‑span height of 4.02 meters, resulting in a cable sag of 3%.
